FRANCE APPROVES OF IAEA BOARD OF GOVERNORS' RESOLUTION
ON
THE IRANIAN NUCLEAR ISSUE
STATEMENT BY THE FRENCH FOREIGN MINISTRY
SPOKESPERSON
FRENCH MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
September 20, 2004
I want to remind you of the statement we made on Saturday, September 18:
"France welcomes the consensus evidenced today in Vienna on the occasion
of the IAEA Board of Governors' adoption of the resolution on the Iranian nuclear
issue.
Pursuant to this resolution, Mr. ElBaradei is asked to present a complete report
at the Board of Directors meeting in November. It should be 'an objective and
impartial examination of the Iranian nuclear program in order to get a clear
view of it and to take all necessary decisions with full knowledge of the facts,'
as the foreign minister indicated during the press conference he gave following
the General Affairs and Foreign Relations Council on September 13.
France hopes that the spirit of cooperation will prevail and will permit a
constructive dialogue with Iran in a climate of regained confidence."
