MOHAMMAD ELBARADEI, DIRECTOR GENERAL OF THE INTERNATIONAL ATOMIC ENERGY AGENCY, MEETS WITH SENIOR IRANIAN OFFICIALS TO DISCUSS THE IRANIAN NUCLEAR PROGRAM

IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei met with senior officials in Iran on the Agency´s verification of the country´s nuclear programme.
Speaking to the press corps in Teheran 13 April, he emphasized that Iran needs to take confidence-building measures, including suspension of uranium enrichment activities and the clarification of all outstanding issues related to the verification of its nuclear programme. IAEA safeguards inspectors are continuing verification activities in Iran, he noted.
Dr. ElBaradei met with Mr. Gholamreza Aghazadeh, Vice-President of Iran and Chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and with Mr. Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran´s Supreme National Security Council.
The Director General is scheduled to report to the Security Council at the end of April on the Iranian nuclear issue.
