On November 11 in a ceremony held on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of Tehran Research Reactor Operation, Dr. Salehi, President's deputy and AEOI head appraised the relentless efforts of the distinguished top aging pioneers and protagonists of nuclear industry in the last more than half a century for their sincere contribution towards promoting this technology to the present stage.

Dr. Salehi in a compressive speech presented on this occasion pointed out some of the achievements of the industry in the past decades particularly in the field radiopharmaceutical productions and medical applications of which the construction project undertaken for building a new nuclear hospital with a budget of 60 ml Euros is a noteworthy manifestation which should last around 4 years and considered as a breakthrough in radiopharmaceutical supplies. Dr. Salehi further added the following points:

In the area of exploration, ever since I assumed responsibility in 2009, Arial surveillance was carried out and around 73 to 74 percent of the country's landscape has been surveyed which is much higher as compared to the %20 before the revolution. At present we are negotiating with the Chinese to further advance the technology. Some countries have set condition such as joining various conventions which is under consideration with careful examination. At present 2 new power plant projects are being constructed with a 10 ml dollar investment which due to physical demands must be built in the southern or north part of the country, but small reactors could be built in the consumption location. Nuclear industry application has far more usage than what is in the mind of the public opinion. Such applications include industrial, agricultural and medical fields of which the hospital project referred to is an ample example of both combination of industry and scientific knowledge. The project is considered unique in Western Asia.

The Tehran Research Reactor has played a major role in training nuclear engineers and physicists. Some of the applications include radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals, notion radiation application and radiography of notion.  The facility has contributed enormously in the field of medical and industries, so far.

At the end of the ceremony some of the pioneers offered presentations and ceremonial gifts were exchanged.
