A subsidiary of the Qioptiq Group; formerly known as Thales Electro-Optics Pte Limited (Thales Singapore), with predecessor company Avimo Electro Optic (Avimo Singapore); provides design and manufacture of precision optical components and assemblies for night vision, defense, medical and civil applications; in December 2008, parent company Qioptiq S.a.r.l. was targeted (following voluntary disclosures) for 163 violations of the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) in connection with the unauthorized export and re-transfer of ITAR controlled technical data and other matters; on numerous occasions between 2001 and 2005, Thales Singapore allegedly retransferred U.S.-origin ITAR technical data without authorization to subcontractors in the People's Republic of China, and allegedly manufactured and exported ITAR-controlled night vision assemblies and related equipment and parts to U.S. and non-U.S. customers in NATO countries, Israel, Egypt, Pakistan and Cyprus without required authorizations; additionally, Thales Singapore/Avimo Singapore allegedly sent night vision-related exports involving ITAR-controlled technical data to Iran and Cyprus, and third country nationals from China, Myanmar, India, Indonesia, Germany, and Malaysia allegedly worked at the Singapore facility and were provided with ITAR technical data, all without required authorization; Qioptiq S.a.r.l. signed a consent agreement with the U.S. Department of State to settle the allegations, agreeing to pay $25 million in fines and remedial compliance measures; Qioptiq Singapore's managing director, Mr. Chua Teow Tzing, and finance director, Mr. Lee Seng Gey; other Qioptiq Group companies include: LINOS Group, Qioptiq LINOS Inc., Qioptiq GmbH, Point Source Ltd., Qioptiq Ltd., Qioptiq KFT, Qioptiq Space Technology, Qioptiq Polymer Inc., and Qioptiq Changchun Co.
