| Added to the Specially Designated National (SDN) list maintained by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on October 25, 2007, freezing its assets under U.S. jurisdiction and prohibiting transactions with U.S. parties, pursuant to Executive Order 13382, which targets proliferators of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their delivery systems; according to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, owned or controlled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC - see separate entity record) and its leaders; is reportedly an affiliate of Khatam al-Anbia (see separate entity record), an engineering and construction giant which belongs to IRGC; on February 8, 2007, won jointly with South Korea's Daelim Industrial Co. Ltd. a $3 billion project, commissioned by the state-run National Iranian Oil Company (see separate entity record), to construct three liquid natural gas and two liquid petroleum gas storage tanks in southern Iran by August 2010. |
