Designated by the U.N. Security Council on July 16, 2009, pursuant to resolution 1718 (2006), as an entity linked to the DPRK's weapons of mass destruction or ballistic missile-related programs, requiring (with some exceptions) states to freeze immediately funds, financial assets and economic resources on their territories that are owned or controlled, directly or indirectly, by the entity, and to ensure that funds, financial assets and economic resources are prevented from being made available by their nationals or by persons or entities within their territories, to or for the benefit of the entity; listed by the Japanese government in 2009 as an entity of concern for proliferation relating to missiles and nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons; added to the Specially Designated National (SDN) list maintained by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on June 30, 2009, freezing its assets under U.S. jurisdiction and prohibiting transactions with U.S. parties, pursuant to Executive Order 13382, which targets proliferators of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their delivery systems; according to the U.S. Treasury Department, was designated for providing support to North Korea's Tanchon Commercial Bank and Korea Mining Development Trading Corporation (KOMID) (see separate entity records); described by the U.N. Security Council as an entity owned or controlled by, or acts or purports to act for or on behalf of Tanchon Commercial Bank and KOMID; has transferred millions of dollars of proliferation-related funds on behalf of Tanchon Commercial Bank and KOMID, and has facilitated the movement of money from Iran to the DPRK on behalf of KOMID, according to the U.S. Treasury Department; listed by the European Union on August 4, 2009, pursuant to U.N. Security Council Resolution 1718 (2006), applying the restrictions mandated by the U.N.
