| Added to the Specially Designated National (SDN) list maintained by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on June 8, 2007, freezing its assets under U.S. jurisdiction and prohibiting transactions with U.S. parties, pursuant to Executive Order 13382, which targets proliferators of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their delivery systems; described by the U.S. Treasury Department as an entity that is "owned or controlled by, or acting or purporting to act for or on behalf of Iran's Aerospace Industries Organization" (AIO - see separate entity record); listed by the Japanese government in 2007 as an entity of concern for proliferation related to missiles and nuclear weapons; listed by the British government in 2007 as an entity of potential concern for WMD-related procurement; listed in an annex to U.N. Security Council resolution 1737 of December 23, 2006, as an entity involved in Iran's ballistic missile program; with some exceptions, the U.N. designation requires states to freeze financial assets on their territories which are owned or controlled by the entity, by its agents, or by entities it owns or controls; the U.N. designation also requires states to ensure that any funds, financial assets or economic resources are prevented from being made available by their nationals or by any persons or entities within their territories, to or for the benefit of the entity; listed in an early warning document distributed by the German government to industry in July 2005; according to the German government, is a procurement agency chiefly active in military programs, and oversees the manufacture and sale of electro-mechanical inertial gyroscopes and accelerometers, subordinate to AIO; identified by the British government in February 1998 as having procured goods and/or technology for weapons of mass destruction programs (missile), in "addition to doing non-proliferation related business"; according to the U.S. Department of Treasury, involved in the production and acquisition of precision equipment for missile guidance and control systems, including procurement on behalf of the AIO; according to the U.S. Department of Treasury, since the late 1990s, has purchased high strength steel alloy, useful for guidance equipment in ballistic missiles and missile-related technology and items; in the late 1990s, part of the Iranian Defense Industries Organization (DIO - see separate entity record); formerly known as the Instrumentation Factory Plant; in 1997, L.P. Chromova of Russia's Inor reportedly agreed with an Iranian factory director identified as A. Asgharzadeh to supply the then-Instrumentation Factories Plan with special alloys for Iran's long-range missile program, including 240 kilograms of high-strength steel alloy known as "21HKMT" for missile casings and alloy foil designated as "49K2F," "CUBE2," and "50N" used to shield missile guidance components and sold in sheets 0.2 and 0.4 millimeters thick; headed by Mohsen Hojati (see separate entity record). |
