Listed by the British government in 2010 as an entity of potential concern for WMD-related procurement, and has had export licenses both granted and denied by that government; in connection with alleged intended re-export of a U.S.-origin Boeing 747 aircraft to Iran in violation of the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), targeted by a Temporary Denial Order (TDO), issued by the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), U.S. Department of Commerce on June 6, 2008, forbidding participation for 180 days in export transactions involving items subject to the EAR; TDO renewed for 180 days on December 3, 2008; owned by the Iranian government. Iran Air Cargo provides cargo services for IranAir; Iran Air Cargo was named in U.N. Security Council resolution 1803 of March 3, 2008, as a company for which cargo to and from Iran aboard aircraft it owns or operates should be inspected, provided there are reasonable grounds to believe that such aircraft are transporting goods prohibited under U.N. Security Council resolutions 1737, 1747 and 1803; Iran Air Cargo was listed by the European Union (E.U.) on August 8, 2008, pursuant to U.N. Security Council resolution 1803, as a company for which cargo to and from Iran aboard aircraft it owns or operates should be inspected by E.U. member states, provided there are reasonable grounds to believe that such aircraft are transporting prohibited goods; cargo aircraft Iran Air Cargo owns or operates are subject to the additional requirement of pre-arrival or pre-departure information for all goods brought into or out of any E.U. member state; Iran Air Cargo provides cargo services to 54 destinations in over 32 countries, Iran Air services 35 international and 25 domestic destinations. |
