| Listed by the British government in August 2007 as an entity of potential concern for WMD-related procurement; intended recipient of air-cooled screw chillers, the procurement of which was denied on November 6, 2006, by a member state of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG); serves as a project implementing company for National Petrochemical Company (see separate entity record), which owns 49.7 percent of Jam shares; reportedly produces ethylene, propylene, HDPE, olefin and butanediol; reported Managing Director is Hassan Beigi, as of November 2007; reportedly the largest manufacturer of ethylene in the world; reportedly its Olefin Unit is set to become operational in the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in March 2008 and will be the largest in the world, according to Beigi; according to a statement reportedly made by Beigi in April 2007, 90 percent of Jam's total production is exported, and it aims to expand export of polymer products. |
