Headed by Dr. Reza Amrollahi, former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI); originally established in 1928; equipped with electron microscopes, scaler network analyzers, vector network analyzers, a spectrum analyzer, an antenna anechoic chamber, vacuum coating systems, gas chromatographs, and a wind tunnel, "which have been used for. . . defense projects;" Dean S. N. Mousavi reportedly signed an agreement in September 1999 with Yuri Savelyev, rector of the Baltic State Technical University in Russia and one of Russia's leading missile scientists, to have Russian professors teach rocket technologies to Iranian students; location of a Russian State Technological University (MATI) overseas training branch; reportedly signed a letter of understanding with MATI, disclosed in June 2004, for joint aerospace cooperation, which will include joint aerospace graduate training courses.

Department of Civil Engineering: Research on solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, applied mechanics, and manufacturing engineering; has laboratories for research on materials science, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and strength of materials.
