Owned or controlled by, or acting or purporting to act for or on behalf of Melli Investment Holding International (MEHR) and Bank Melli Iran Investment Company (BMIIC) (see separate entity records); domiciled in the Cayman Islands; added to the Specially Designated National (SDN) list maintained by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on March 03, 2009, freezing its assets under U.S. jurisdiction and prohibiting transactions with U.S. parties, pursuant to Executive Order 13382, which targets proliferators of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their delivery systems; investment manager and placement agent for First Persian Equity Fund (see separate entity record), an investment vehicle launched in June 2007 that focuses primarily on companies listed on Tehran's stock exchange.
