Vice President for Research and Development at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI - see separate entity record); added to the Specially Designated National (SDN) list maintained by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on June 15, 2007, freezing his assets under U.S. jurisdiction and prohibiting transactions with U.S. parties, pursuant to Executive Order 13382, which targets proliferators of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their delivery systems; listed in an annex to U.N. According to the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), serves as AEOI Deputy for the Production of Nuclear Fuel, and supervises the heavy water project under construction at Arak; reportedly also identified as the head of Iran's Uranium Conversion Facility (UCF -see separate entity record) at Esfahan; according to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, awarded the second medal for research by the Iranian president in August 2006 for his role as AEOI research and technology deputy; Iranian citizen born October 13, 1952, in Maragheh, Iran; Iranian passport 20694; alternative Iranian passport A0003044.
