| Listed by the Japanese government in 2011 as an entity of concern for proliferation relating to biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons; listed by the British government in 2011 as an entity of potential concern for WMD-related procurement, and has had export licenses both granted and denied by that government; effective December 3, 2008, designated by the U.S. Treasury Department as an institution owned or controlled by the Government of Iran, prohibiting new investments by U.S. persons and most servicing by U.S. depository institutions.
Commenced activities in 1950 in the wake of petroleum industry nationalization; an affiliate of the Iranian Petroleum Ministry; responsible for all operations associated with crude oil and gas exploration and production; carries out research and development projects leading to development of oil fields, technology transfer and preservation of oil and gas reservoirs; Eng.
