Enforcement

The world's principal response to Iran's illicit nuclear and missile progress has been sanctions. Iran Watch tracks the implementation and enforcement of these sanctions.

This page contains links to sanctions-related information, including the Wisconsin Project's own investigative reports, summaries of international enforcement efforts aimed at preventing Iran from buying weapons and the means to make them, and a tally of the Iranian entities sanctioned so far by the United Nations, the European Union, and the United States.

Sanctions Tally

United Nations and European Union sanctions targeting Iran's military and missile programs remain in place until 2020 and 2023, respectively. The sanctions target firms and individuals involved in these programs, including entities connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC). Over 200 entities are listed by the EU and subject to financial restrictions and travel prohibitions (in the case of individuals). A smaller number – less than 100 – remain designated by the United Nations.
