See which entities connected to Iran's military and missile programs remain blacklisted by the United Nations and the European Union.

The world's attention in recent months has been on the withdrawal by the United States from the nuclear agreement with Iran and the re-imposition of sweeping unilateral U.S. sanctions on Iran's economy, including the financial, transport, and energy sectors. While the U.S. sanctions are among the most impactful measures imposed on Iran, a narrower set of multilateral sanctions issued by both the United Nations and the European Union remain in place. These sanctions target Iran's military and missile programs, which remain subject to restrictions under U.N. Security Council resolution 2231, until 2020 and 2023 respectively.

While both resolution 2231 and EU regulations allow for additional sanctions as a means of implementing restrictions on Iran's military and missile programs, neither the U.N. nor the EU has adopted any new sanctions since the nuclear agreement took effect in January 2016. Furthermore, new multilateral sanctions are not expected, as the focus in the wake of U.S. withdrawal remains on preserving the agreement, or Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). As a result, both the EU and U.N. sanctions lists have remained static while the U.S. sanctions list has continued to expand, notably last November, when over 700 entities – including some 70 Iranian financial institutions – were added to the Treasury Department's Specially Designated Nationals List. Below is a list of entities that remain sanctioned by the United Nations and/or the EU. Over 200 firms and individuals linked to Iran's military and missile programs, including entities connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC), are listed by the EU and subject to financial restrictions and travel prohibitions (in the case of individuals). A smaller number – less than 100 – remain designated by the United Nations.

Each entity’s name is linked to an Iran Watch profile describing its activities of proliferation concern and to the official document that originally imposed the sanction, which is available from the Iran Watch Library. A date indicates when the sanction originally occurred. For entities that remain subject to U.N. sanctions, the original date of designation is listed. The list can be filtered to display entities sanctioned by one party or the other.
