DECISION BY THE IRANIAN
AUTHORITIES TO RESUME CERTAIN
ACTIVITIES RELATING TO URANIUM ENRICHMENT
STATEMENT BY THE
FRENCH FOREIGN MINISTRY
SPOKESPERSON
FRENCH MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
June 28, 2004
Q - Can you confirm that Paris, Berlin and London are getting ready
to begin discussions with Teheran to find a way out of the nuclear crisis?
Can
you give us details about the place and time of the talks?
A - We were informed of the decision by the Iranian authorities
to resume certain activities
relating to uranium enrichment, namely the manufacture of components and assembly
activities for centrifuges. This announcement is troubling. We urge
Iran
to continue the process it has started to establish confidence-building measures
that would give the international community every assurance of the peaceful
nature
of its nuclear program. In this context, together with our partners,
we
remain ready to continue our dialogue with Iran to implement the agreement
we
reached with Teheran on October 21, 2003. Contacts are continuing.
