Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel here Wednesday expressed hope Europe would succeed in convincing the United States to support the path it is taking in resolving the Iran nuclear issue.

Speaking to reporters, he said: "We call on Europe not to follow the US in dealing with the case."

He said that negotiations (with Europe) would replace US threats, adding that "the international community does not welcome US verbal threats and threatened sanctions against Iran" and that talks would continue.

Asked about reports in the foreign media saying Iran has accepted (temporary) enrichment suspension, the speaker said: "News on Iran should come from Iranian officials."

He said Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary (Ali Larijani) had not announced any decision regarding suspension of enrichment. "Our stance has not been changed."

But the speaker was optimistic suspension of enrichment would be one of the issues that could be negotiated by the parties, adding "We wanted to know Europe's reasons behind their call for suspension but instead they set suspension as a pre-condition (for resumption of talks."
