DR. KHARRAZI: IRAN IS DECIDED
TO CONTINUE URANIUM ENRICHMENT
IRANIAN MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
February 23, 2005
Iranian foreign minister, Dr Kamal Kharrazi, on Wednesday, after cabinet meeting told reporters: We are decided to continue uranium enrichment; and others cannot stop this process.
He spoke of continuation of Iran`s talks with the three European countries ( France, Germany and Britain) on nuclear issues, and said: We are being involved in negotiation, so that their concern would be removed and they become sure that we will not proceed towards developing nuclear weapons, though we really do not have such a decision.
Asked about the stance of US president George W. Bush towards the issues of the region, Dr Kharrazi said: The plans the US has drawn up for the Middle East region, and especially for Iraq, Lebanon and Syria, are mainly revolving around the axis of saving Israel; and for this very reason it knows that there exist severe reaction in the Muslim world towards the US policies.
Even in the European Union there doesn`t exist all-out supports towards the US policies, Dr Kharrazi said, adding that at such conditions the Americans try to redress their mistakes in Iraq and their wrong policies in the region.
He described as `unilateral` the US measures in Iraq; and pointing to the world reaction towards such behavior of the US, said: The US is in a way revising its cooperation with its allies; and the country`s cooperation with the European Union is also in this line.
In response to a question as to how long the negotiations between Iran and the European Union on nuclear issues will continue, Dr Kharrazi said: The talks will be evaluated in the middle of March.
In case the talks are considered positive, they will be continued; and Iran`s assessment of the talks as regards its continuation, will be fateful, he added.
