RUSSIAN MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
February 21, 2006
On February 20-21, consultations between the Security Councils of Russia and Iran took place in Moscow. Ali Hosseinitash, deputy secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, headed the Iranian delegation.
During the consultations, a serious exchange of view on resolving the situation around the Iranian nuclear problem and on implementing Russia's offer of setting up on Russian territory a joint venture for the supply of enriched uranium to the nuclear power program of Iran took place.
There was underscored on the Russian side the need for full cooperation by Iran with the IAEA based on compliance with the February resolution of the Agency's Board of Governors with the aim of settling the questions that still remain about Iran's past nuclear activities and restoring trust in its nuclear program.
Consultations on this problem will be continued.
