State Unitary Enterprise sanctioned (with all successors, sub-units, or subsidiaries) by the United States on December 28, 2006, under the Iran and Syria Nonproliferation Act, which provides for penalties against foreign persons for the transfer to or acquisition from Iran since January 1, 1999, or the transfer to or acquisition from Syria since January 1, 2005, of equipment and technology controlled under multilateral export control lists or otherwise having the potential to make a material contribution to the development of weapons of mass destruction or cruise or ballistic missile systems; the sanctions apply for two years as follows: U.S. government barred from procuring from, contracting with, or providing assistance to the entity, U.S. government sales to the entity of any item on the United States Munitions List prohibited, sales to the entity of any defense articles, defense services, or design and construction services under the U.S. Arms Export Control Act terminated, no new individual licenses granted for the transfer to the entity of items the export of which is controlled under the U.S. Export Administration Act of 1979 or the U.S. Export Administration Regulations, and any existing such licenses suspended; sanctioned by the United States in September 2003 for transferring lethal military equipment to Iran - reportedly, Krasnopol laser-guided artillery shells; also produces the Kvartet system with Kornet-E anti-tank missiles; developed and produced the Gran, Kitolov-2M and Krasnopol guided artillery projectile systems; development of land-based Pantsir-S1, Pantsir-S1-O, Tunguska-M1, and ship-based Kashtan, Kashtan-M, Kashtan-M1 air defense missile-gun systems, the Vikhr multi-purpose missile system, other ship-based weapon systems, grenade launchers and flame-throwers; design and manufacture of modernization kits for T-series tanks, incorporating fire control systems, guided weapon systems, including the Reflex, Svir, Bastion, Sheksna, Hermes, Hermes-A and Hermes-K, and Drozd active protection system; offers GSh guns for MiG-21, MiG-23, MiG-27, MiG-29, Su-24 and Su-25 fighter aircraft and Mi-24 and Mi-35 helicopters; design and manufacture of weapons systems for light armored vehicles, including Kluiver and other turrets/fighting compartments and fire control systems; also produces civilian items, including medical, agricultural and clothing industry products; reportedly to be renamed High-Precision Weapons Systems Corporation; established in 1927.
