A joint venture between Bonyad Mostazafan and Iran Electronics Industries (IEI), a company subordinate to the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL).

Majority shareholder in Irancell, which is reportedly a joint venture with the South Africa-based firm MTN Group that reportedly worked with Huawei Technologies Company and companies based in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates to procure embargoed U.S.-origin telecommunications equipment from 2006 to at least 2012.

Reportedly founded in 2001.

Sanctions

Added on November 18, 2020, to the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list maintained by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), freezing its assets under U.S. jurisdiction and prohibiting transactions with U.S. parties, pursuant to Executive Order 13876, which targets the Supreme Leader of Iran, the Supreme Leader’s Office, and their affiliates; foreign parties facilitating transactions for the entity or otherwise assisting the entity are subject to U.S. sanctions.
