According to the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), assists the Malek-Ashtar and Imam Hussein Universities and the Guards Baqiyatollah biological research center in Irans biological weapons program; according to the NCRI, headed by Dr. Hossein Sanati, the head of the National Center for Genetic Technology and Growth Technology and one of the architects of Iran's biological weapons program.

U.N.-EU Sanctions Tally

United Nations and European Union sanctions targeting Iran's military and missile programs remain in place until 2020 and 2023, respectively. The sanctions target firms and individuals involved in these programs, including entities connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC). Over 200 entities are listed by the EU and subject to financial restrictions and travel prohibitions (in the case of individuals). A smaller number – less than 100 – remain designated by the United Nations.
