Iranian national charged with violating the U.S. Arms Export Control Act and the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations by attempting to illegally export to Iran restricted military components for the F-14 fighter jet aircraft without obtaining the required export license from the U.S. State Department; arrested on September 19, 2003 in Miami, after inspecting Iran-bound F-14 components in a meeting with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents; claimed to be a Tehran-based broker attempting to purchase parts for the Iranian government; began negotiations with ICE agents in January 2002, during the course of which the unlawful export of F-14 fighter jet parts, C-130A aircraft electrical and avionic upgrades, and the purchase and transshipment of helicopters to Iran, possibly through Italy, were discussed, as was a list of components for the F-14 fighter jet totaling $750,000; admitted knowing that what he was attempting to do was illegal.
