Q - What is the French government's reaction, in the context of the European troika, to the Iranian proposal to enrich uranium in Russia and then bring it into Iran?

Regarding the negotiations with Iran, as you know there's a meeting in Brussels today between high-ranking officials of the three European countries, a representative of Mr. Solana and Iran. And there's a meeting scheduled tomorrow in Geneva at ministerial level to review the dossier. You know perfectly well what our objective is; it was backed yesterday by the 25 EU countries which confirmed their support for the current negotiations between Germany, France and the UK, with the support of the high representative for the CFSP, and the Iranians. In this context the council reaffirmed that Iran had to comply with the commitments it made last November in the Paris agreement. That's the EU position, and obviously that's the spirit in which we're approaching the discussions with the Iranians today and tomorrow.

In addition, we are in close contact with the Americans, the Russians and also the Chinese on this matter.
