I will read the statement made October 18:

"A meeting of the G8 countries was held in Washington on October 15. It afforded an opportunity for a useful discussion on how to promote the objective we share, as agreed in the Sea Island summit declaration, which is to find a solution to ensure that Iran complies with its obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and safeguard agreements.

"The meeting highlighted the intensive efforts to produce a solution through diplomatic means. These efforts will continue in the coming weeks with the goal of achieving an agreement between now and the IAEA board of governors' meeting in November. "Time is short. France, with its partners, intends to continue working with its partners and with the Iranian authorities, ahead of the next session of the IAEA board of governors, towards the complete suspension by Iran of its enrichment and reprocessing activities in accordance with the demands made in the board of governors' resolution.

"While leading this joint effort, we recognize the right of every state to the peaceful use of nuclear energy in accordance with the Nonproliferation Treaty."
