French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Spokesperson Remarks on Iran Sanctions (Excerpts)

February 25, 2010

Does France hope, like Hillary Clinton, to achieve a UN resolution condemning Iran's nuclear activities "in 30 to 60 days," while Moscow doesn't want any "paralyzing sanctions" and Beijing, which is hostile to sanctions, is advocating the path of dialogue?

Given Iran's rejection of our offers of dialogue and cooperation, its lack of cooperation with the IAEA and its continued violation of the resolutions of the UN Security Council and the IAEA Board of Governors, we are working on new measures with our partners of the Six so that they can be adopted as swiftly as possible by the Security Council.
