The third issue is on the visit that took place yesterday. The Foreign Minister of Iran, H.E. Kamal Kharrazi, visited India on August 24. He called on Prime Minister and had meetings with EAM [External Affairs Minister]. During the discussions, there was a review of the progress in bilateral cooperation since the visit of President Khatami. Satisfaction was expressed at the progress made, particularly on issues related to transit and energy cooperation. It was agreed that effort would be made to convene a meeting of the Joint Commission in December 2003.
There was an exchange of views on the situation in Afghanistan. Both sides expressed full support to the Government of President Karzai and looked forward to the Constitutional Loya Jirga scheduled for later this year and elections next year. Concern was expressed at the security situation and the support that the Taliban remnants continue to receive from outside. They also shared their respective assessment of the situation in Iraq.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also conveyed his country's approach to the question of peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

Question: There was a report in Pakistani media that India was clandestinely helping Iran's nuclear program. Any comment?
Answer: It is not difficult to imagine why such a report has appeared in the Pakistani press at this particular point of time. It is better not to take cognizance of such rubbish.
