Iranian President Mohammad Khatami sent a letter to European states on the importance of keeping their promises, he said. "If member states of IAEA`s board of governors think logically and decide in relation with documents, Iran`s nuclear dossier should be closed in the shortest time."
"If current problems in Iran`s nuclear case would be settled, there would be no reason to put the issue on the agenda of the agency," he added.
The minister stressed that member states of the IAEA's board of governors should act in accordance with their commitment and not be affected by US pressures. "Tehran will do its utmost to cooperate with the board of governors and we could settle problems through transparency," Kharrazi stated.
"Continuation of Iran`s efforts depend on keeping up the promises by the other side. If such a matter is supposed to be unilateral, it surely cannot be sustainable," he said.
Pointing to the Iraqi issue, the Iranian minister stressed the need for establishment of security in that country, saying it is a heavy responsibility of the Iraqi interim government. He assessed the resolution on Iraq and formation of the Iraqi interim government as among positive steps taken in that country. During his stay in Istanbul, the Iranian foreign minister held meetings with a number of his counterparts of the Islamic states. Iran handed over the rotating presidency of OIC foreign ministerial meeting to Turkey.
