Tehran, Feb 25, IRNA -- Tehran said on Wednesday it did not deem it necessary to report to the International Atomic Energy Agency outcome of its research on centrifuge P2.

Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Hojatoleslam Hassan Rowhani told reporters prior to his departure for India that Iran does not have the centrifuge and is only conducting related research or designing a prototype.

Rowhani denied an IAEA claim that there were some centers in Iran which operated centrifuge P2 for enrichment purposes and said it is only in the stage of research.

He said the subject does not represent all the research Iran is conducting, rather Iranian experts are engaged in research on other issues.

He added that Iran is engaged in other types of research but has not reported it to the IAEA and does not deem it necessary to report to the UN.

Commenting on recent report of the IAEA concerning Iran, Rowhani said it contained positive points.

The official said Iran has given necessary and complete responses to the IAEA.

Rowhani then turned to the controversy on suppliers of the nuclear technology to Iran, saying that one of the brokers who has supplied Iran with polluted parts has acknowledged in interrogations that they had sent polluted parts to Iran and due to the same reason the agency must look for a third government involved in the case. Elsewhere in the interview, Rowhani said Iran had voluntarily suspended the uranium enrichment program for the sake of confidence building.

He then commented on the time set for resuming uranium enrichment program, Rowhani said Iran has not specified any date for the project but it will however resume it one day as is suggested by the word 'voluntary.'

He said Iran expects the IAEA to move in line with settlement of problem with Iran considering Iran's full cooperation.

He added that Iran is in talks with all members of the IAEA board of governors and the IAEA itself including European and Non-Aligned Movement states.

Switching to elections, Rowhani said European states' claims with regards to the elections are not very strong because Europe knows that elections in Iran are held in a legal and healthy manner and that there was a high turnout for it.

The SNSC secretary said "the Iranian people do not need anybody to teach them democracy lessons."

He said statements made by European officials are the result of Europeans' false analysis of Iran's internal conditions and will not affect relations between Iran and European Union. As for future of Iran-US elections, Rowhani said Americans always take one step forward and one step backward.

He said that in the Bam incident they took one step forward but changed their tone in the February 20th elections.

He added that Iran intends to ease tension in its ties with US and said Americans had themselves created the tension and they should themselves settle it.
