Iran`s Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani said on Monday that probable referral of Iran`s nuclear dossier to the UN Security Council should not be magnified. He said "We do our best to prevent Iran`s nuke dossier from being referred to the UN Security Council but it does not mean however means that a big incident might happen to Iran. The Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys high political and legal capabilities but in the event the case is referred to the Security ouncil we should minimize our vulnerability."
The defense minister said that given Iran`s geopolitical situation, her scientific capabilities as well as commitment to NPT, it is necessary for the country to find access to nuclear fuel, he said. On probable referral of Iran`s dossier to the UN Security Council, he said there is no reason for the dossier to be sent to the UN Security Council because Iran has had very remarkable cooperation with the IAEA. However, If such a thing happens, it will be due to political reasons, he added.
On US and Israeli threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran, he said the country is not like Libya and no one dares to treat it like Iraq. Shamkhani made it clear that any attack on Iran would do more harm than good for the assailant. The Islamic Republic of Iran will under no circumstances let her national independence be violated, he said.
On mass production of Shahab-3 missiles, he said "We have reached a point to be able to produce as many missiles as we now produces Paykan cars, he said. On production of a missile with a range of 4,000 kilometers, he said this is just a claim raised by the Zionist regime with an aim of giving the impression that Iran seeks to threaten Europe, he said. "We do not feel any threat on the part of Europe and sees no reason to invest in the sector," he said. The Islamic Republic of Iran has adopted a very clear defensive stance over the past seven years, he concluded.
