Tehran, Sept 29, IRNA -- Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani here on Wednesday dismissed as" baseless" Americans` claim that nuclear tests had been conducted in archin region in Iran, saying such a claim is not unprecedented on part of the US.

Shamkhani told reporters that earlier Americans had also claimed that nuclear experiments were launched in different parts of Iran such as Shian and Kolahdouz district of Karaj (a city west of Tehran), while no such a thing had happened.
He said Americans` poor information on different issues such as the 9/11 event and abuse of Iraqi inmates at Abu Ghraib prison have brought them nothing but disgrace and scandal.

The minister said no request has yet been made by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for inspecting Parchin region. Elsewhere in the interview, Shamkhani admitted that some members of parliament had submitted an urgent bill calling for Iran`s withdrawal from the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hassan kamran said on sidelines of the open session of Majlis on Tuesday that the bill on Iran`s exit from the NPT has been drafted and is in the stage of signing by the lawmakers.

Furthermore, the spokesman for Majlis presiding body Mohsen Kouhkan told reporters such a bill for NPT disengagement of Iran had yet to be submitted to the presiding board of the parliament. Kouhkan said MPs are free to make comments but they should raise them in a way that do not run counter to the official stance of the Majlis.
