Weapon Program:
- Nuclear
Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia Behrouz Kamalvandi said on Tuesday that examination of Iranian nuclear program does not fall within jurisdiction of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
Kamalvandi made the remarks while delivering a speech to the 'Seminar on Nuclear Program of the Islamic Republic of Iran' at Indonesia National University.
"To get acquainted with the roots of current hue and cry on Iran's nuclear activities, you should have a good command on the Islamic Revolution and its origins," he added.
"Emergence of the Islamic Revolution of Iran was in contradiction with the interests of big powers, in particular the US, thus, they started political, economic, cultural and military confrontations with the country."
Pointing to Iranian principles consistent with nuclear program, he said that according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) regulations, Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and the Safeguard Agreement, no body or country is entitled to create obstacles in the way of attaining peaceful nuclear technology.
The ambassador referred to the contradictions in the UNSC Resolution of 1747, and said that the IAEA Director General Mohamed Elbaradei has recently admitted that the nuclear program of Iran has been in transparent track.
Criticizing unjust structure of the UNSC and the veto privilege being provoked by certain countries, he noted, "Both judge and complainant are the same in the security council, therefore, the result of judgment is obvious."
Indonesia National University is the second private academic center in the country, with record of operation dating back to 1949.
More than 10,000 students are studying at the university.
