Menon: Iran's Nuclear Issue Should be Investigated by IAEA

December 16, 2007

Indian Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon said here Sunday that Iran's nuclear case should be investigated only by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Menon told Head of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi that peaceful nuclear activities are absolute rights of Iran.

He said his government supports Iran's right to use peaceful nuclear energy, adding, "No country can put pressure on Iran in that respect."

He called Iran a factor of stability and security in the region and said his country wants to use Iran's high economic, political and cultural potential to expand ties with the country.
