Iranian foreign ministry spokesman, Dr Hamidreza Assefi, on Wednesday denied the news carried by Reuters new agency on Iran`s smuggling of uranium to other countries.
Talking to parliamentary reporters, on the sidelines of the open session of Iranian Consultative Assembly ( Majlis or Parliament), Dr Assefi, who is also holding the post of deputy foreign minister for consular, communications and parliamentary affairs, stressed that the said claim is in no way true.
Our nuclear activity is transparent and under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), he added.
Dr Assefi further said: Iran is after gaining access to nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, therefore smuggling of uranium and enriching it in a country other than Iran is meaningless.
In the past also there have been similar cases of news forgery by western media, but after some time their claims have been proved to be baseless, he concluded.
