Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Tuesday that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's upcoming visit to Tehran is aimed at reviewing Syrian developments as well as Moscow nuclear talks.
Speaking to reporters at his weekly press briefing, Mehmanparast said the Iranian and Russian sides will also hold talks on the latest regional developments.
The two are to review nuclear talks to be held between Iran and the sextet in Moscow.
Iran and the Group 5+1- the US, Britain, France, China and Russia plus Germany- are to negotiate in the Russian capital on June 18-19.
Mehmanparast said Lavrov is to arrive in Tehran on Wednesday.
On Moscow nuclear talks, Mehmanparast said efforts are focused on holding successful talks. However, he reiterated, the successful outcome would depend on the 5+1 approach.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the success of talks in Moscow depends on the attitude of the 5+1 member states.
Ø¢He noted that based on agreements in Baghdad, talks between Iran and the 5+1 are set for June 18-19, he said, adding that the success of the talks depended on the degree of cooperation and positive and constructive attitudes of the group's member states.
He said the talks will be more likely to succeed if the 5+1 displays more willingness to recognize Iran's rights.
Voicing Iran's readiness for talks, he hoped the meeting of the deputies of the EU Foreign Policy chief and Iran's secretary of Supreme National Security Council will be held according to the schedule to decide the agenda of Moscow talks.
On Syrian issue, he urged all countries to help settle the crisis there in a proper way.
Stressing that domestic issues of countries should be settled without external interferences, Mehmanparast pointed out that the Syrian government has taken good steps towards reforms.
Referring to Kofi Annan's plan on Syria, he said it seems that whenever the plan gets close to bearing any fruits, the atmosphere in Syria gets really tense due to activities of certain foreign countries.
The spokesman said Iran supported settlement of Syrian crisis through talks.
As for execution of a number of Iranian nationals in Saudi Arabia, he said such an action has political and legal consequences which could be followed up in international conventions.
On Bushehr nuclear power plant, he said the plant which has already joined the national network will reach its full capacity in October.
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that establishment of peace and security in Afghanistan is among Iran's priorities.
Ramin Mehmanparast made the remarks while talking to reporters during his weekly press conference in Tehran.
Referring to the importance Iran attaches to Afghanistan's stability, he said Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi is to participate in the forthcoming regional conference on Afghanistan on June 14.
He said Afghanistan's neighboring countries, some foreign states and representatives of several international bodies will participate in the event.
Iran as an Afghanistan's neighbor wants to uproot the crisis in that country, added the spokesman.
Asked about the strategic agreement between Tehran and Kabul, Mehmanparast said there are good grounds for achieving that agreement within the framework of bilateral relations.
