Japan regrets the construction of a new uranium enrichment facility by the Islamic Republic of Iran without any notification. Japan shares the concerns of related countries regarding the construction of the facility. Japan seeks for explanation from Iran on such activities that have been carried out continuously without any notification.

Japan calls on Iran to cooperate fully with the IAEA, including allowing investigations of the facility. Iran must take all necessary measures, including the implementation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, in order to restore the confidence of the international community.

Japan strongly hopes that Iran will act in a positive manner at the meeting with the EU3 (the United Kingdom, France, and Germany) + 3 (the United States, Russia, and China), and that concrete developments appears towards the resolution of this issue.
