The Norwegian government is deeply concerned about Iran's decision to break the International Atomic Energy Agency's seals at nuclear power facilities in the country. "Iran's resumption of its uranium enrichment research is a serious step in the wrong direction," said Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. This was also emphasised today when the Iranian Ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for talks. Norway's view is that Iran must comply with the IAEA's demands.

Norway has actively supported the efforts to find a diplomatic solution concerning Iran's nuclear programme. "This latest development makes this more difficult and brings the matter one step closer to the UN Security Council," said the Foreign Minister.
