Weapon Program:
- Nuclear
The visit of IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei to Iran will take place on April 12-13. We regard this as a positive signal attesting to the readiness of the Iranian side to develop and strengthen constructive cooperation with the Agency in order to resolve the situation connected with the Iranian nuclear program.
We presume that the work should be concentrated within the IAEA, which is the only authoritative international body possessing the necessary expert potential and powers to verify compliance by states with their NPT commitments.
We expect the Iranian side to use maximally the Agency's Director General's upcoming visit to clarify the remaining questions about its nuclear activities. We also hope that, during ElBaradei's trip, specific actions by Iran to implement the measures which are required of Teheran in accordance with the IAEA Board of Governors resolutions, backed up in the UN Security Council Presidential Statement of March 29, 2006, for strengthening confidence in Iran's nuclear program will be talked over.
