I commend the efforts of group E3+3 (or 5+1), which aims at achieving a peaceful resolution to the Iranian nuclear program. This should be achieved in a manner that guarantees the right of Iran and the countries of the region for the utilization of nuclear power for peaceful purposes, in accordance with the standards and procedures of the IAEA and under its supervision.

As of this moment, we are all profoundly disappointed with Iran's failure to respond to these efforts and its attempts to evade them. We want to emphasize the importance of making the volatile Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction.

The GCC rejects Iran's continued interference into the internal affairs of member countries and its occupation of the three Emirati islands, as well as its attempts to impose a stale status quo.
