Mr. Chairman and Senator Biden, I fear we are on a collision course with decidedly devastating consequences for the future of the U.S.’s international standing, nuclear non-proliferation, Middle East peace and security, and Iran’s evolution toward a society which respects the human rights and civil liberties of its citizens. What was once described as a game of chess has evolved into a game of chicken: The United States and Iran are like two cars moving head on with increasing velocity. Most concerning is that neither side believes that it serves its interests to slow down or get out of the way.
