Temporarily Shut Down of Bushehr Unit 1 Power Plant

Engineer Jafari, AEOI deputy and managing director of the Iran Atomic Energy Production and Development holding co. has announced that the Bushehr unit 1 power plant in accordance with, the annual planning, will be temporarily shut down, as of April 12, for the purpose of fuel replacement, periodic technical inspection and repair.

He further added the following remarks:

This operation which is coordinated with the country’s electricity network is also aimed at enabling the plant to function, in the production orbit, during the peak electricity consumption period in summer time. The advanced fueling replacing operation will resume the electricity production of the unit 1, in due time, and connect the plant again to the national electricity network.

Since the initial commercial operation of the Bushehr unit 1 plant, so far, around 43 billion KW electricity hour has been delivered to the national network, and from the time of the fuel replacement in last year April, more than 7.2 billion KW electricity energy hour has been produced.

He further added that, a comprehensive assessment program, last year, carried out By a team composed of different countries skilled experts of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) on the plant showed brilliant results including placing the power plant in the list of the five top WANO country members.
