Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, who visited Moscow at the official invitation of his Russian counterpart, met with Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.
The meeting happened at the Russian Foreign Ministry Wednesday morning and the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest at regional and international levels.
Amirabdollahian and Lavrov, while explaining the latest state of bilateral relations, emphasized the need for comprehensive expansion of cooperation and interactions between the two countries in all areas.
They announced their readiness to further enhance relations between Tehran and Moscow.
The top diplomats also discussed other issues like preparing the ground for a joint economic commission, strengthening interactions regarding trade and economy and energy and also paving the way for the promotion of cultural and consular cooperation as well as cooperation in the fight against Covid-19.
Amirabdollahian thanked Russia for its support for the membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in regional and international issues.
Referring to his recent visit to Tehran and the signing of an agreement to establish cultural centers between the two countries, Lavrov also called for the implementation of the document.
Amirabdollahian and Lavrov also held talks over the situation in Afghanistan and Yemen, the developments in the Caucasus, the state of the Iran nuclear deal, and other regional and international issues.
