Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi announced today that Italy has decided to accept Canada’s request to represent their interests in Iran following the closure of the Canadian Embassy in Tehran.

The decision was based on Italy’s historic relationship with a country that is an important friend and ally.
Italy will take over the protection of Canadian interests in Iran in accordance with the procedures envisaged by the current international agreements and conventions.
