At an extremely critical time when the US was negotiating a nuclear deal with Iran that would  save the whole region and the world a new vicious escalation, Israel attacks Iran in yet another provocative action that blatantly violates international law and drags the area further towards the abyss of regional war. We condemn this Israeli aggression on Iran and urge immediate steps to deescalate. Such aggressions will not bring security to any one. Diplomacy and compliance with international law and respect for sovereignty of nations and rights will.

Jordan will continue to work for regional deescalation that must start with ending the aggression on Gaza and creating an irreversible path to Palestinian statehood on the basis of the two-state solution. Only a just peace on the basis of this solution will ensure security for all.

Jordan will also protect our people and security, and we warn against any violation of our airspace and threatening the safety of our people by any party. We will do whatever we can to protect our country and people. We will not be a battle ground for any one.

We urge the international community to act immediately to defuse tension. A ceasefire in Gaza must be reached, humanitarian aid must be allowed at scale through UN agencies. And Israeli recklessness, provocations and disregard for international law and the right of the region to live in peace must be stopped.
