Weapon Program:
- Nuclear
We welcome the recent signature of the Iran-IAEA Joint Statement on a Framework for Cooperation in Tehran. This important agreement brings the relations between the Agency and Iran to a new level and is an important step in restoring the trust of the international community in the peaceful nature of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s nuclear programme. It envisages the implementation of voluntary transparency measures by Iran, which go beyond its obligations under the IAEA Safeguards Agreement, and, as Moscow expects, will allow the Agency to close the Iran dossier and return to normal discussions in the near future.
We hope that during the forthcoming full-format round of P5+1 negotiations with Iran next week in Geneva, the parties will also end their coordination of the long waited agreement on trust building and the agreement will become the first step aimed at the removal of the most acute issues of the international community in respect to Iran’s Nuclear Programme.
