On the 9 November a meeting between foreign ministers of the P5+1 international mediators on Iran’s Nuclear Programme (United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, United States, France) with the participation of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy for the European Union Catherine Ashton and the Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, was held in Geneva.

Ministers conducted intensive talks on the entire spectrum of the issues related to Iran’s Nuclear Programme (INP). Special attention was devoted to the prospects of making the first practical steps aimed at trust building and removal of the most acute concerns of the international community in respect of INP. Different aspects of continuing substantial work in the interests of coming to a final, comprehensive and long-term settlement of the situation around the nuclear programme of the Islamic Republic of Iran were also reviewed.

During his coordination meeting with the P5+1, as well as in the round with the participation of Javad Zarif, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov insisted on the need to show maximum political will in the interests of finding the required outcomes. The Minster expressed several notes aimed at ensuring the optimum organisation of the work process between the P5+1 and Iran.

It was agreed to continue negotiations at the level of political directors in the near future.
