Activities Related to Enrichment
2. In a letter dated 1 June 2022 and received by the Agency on 6 June 2022, Iran informed the Agency that the operator of the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant (FFEP) “intends to feed UF6 to the one IR6 installed cascade”. On the same day, the Agency requested Iran to clarify which of the two cascades of IR-6 centrifuges installed at FFEP the operator intended to feed and which of the declared modes of production for the facility the operator intended to implement.
3. On 18 June 2022, the Agency verified at FFEP that, in preparation for the production of enriched uranium, Iran was ready to begin feeding UF6 into the second cascade of 166 IR-6 centrifuges - the one with modified sub-headers - for passivation purposes (whereby the tails and product are recombined). On 20 June 2022, Iran informed the Agency that passivation of the cascade had begun on 19 June 2022.
4. The Agency has yet to receive clarification from Iran as to which mode of production it intends to implement for the aforementioned cascade, following the completion of passivation.
