Iranian foreign minister, Dr Kamal Kharrazi, on Wednesday said: If the Europeans' plan (to be offered on Iran`s nuclear dossier) does not fulfill our views, we will start activity at Isfahan` s UCF center.
He was making the remarks in an interview with the reporters at the end of the cabinet meeting.
As regards the time of offering of the plan, Dr Kharrazi said: They (the Europeans) have announced that they would offer their plan at the due time (end of July), and we are awaiting to receive the said plan.
Asked about possible change in Iran`s policy with the change of government, Dr Kharrazi said: The policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in these years have been expansion of relations with the neighboring countries and the regional states; and this issue falls under the category of general policies of the system and in line with the fourth development plan as well as the document for the 20-year perspective of country, and thus naturally it will not be changed.
Today`s world conditions is such that we should enter in the phase of collective cooperation in the field of economic cooperation, as well as security arrangements in the region; and I hope these policies would be continued during tenure of office of president-elect, Dr Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, he added.
In response to a question as to whether the Europeans can interact with the government of Dr Ahamdinejad, Dr Kharrazi said: Dr Ahmadinejad is elected by the people and the Europeans have no option but to enter into interaction with his government. Asked about possible change in the trend of nuclear talks between Iran and Europe, Dr Kharrazi said: I don` t think there will be any change in the trend of talks, because the issue is something which transcends the governments, and with the change of the government, it will not be changed.
The issue of nuclear dossier constitutes one of our national interests, and it will be decided upon by the highest-ranking authorities of the country.
Asked what recommendation he would like to propose to the next foreign minister, Dr Kharrazi said: I recommend the new foreign minister to work closely with the press.
As regards imprisonment of an Iranian student on the complain of a German girl in that country, Dr Kharrazi said: I have no information about the matter.
We should be in receipt of detailed specifications of the said person so that we could follow up the issue.
He emphasized: We have always made effort towards helping the Iranian nationals residing abroad, and even some people in this category have been saved from execution, thanks to endeavor of Iranian foreign ministry.
In response to a question raised by an Arab reporter, on the relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, Dr Kahrrazi said: Our relations with Saudi Arabia is excellent and and at a very good level.
He continued: As we should move towards cooperation with all the countries of the region, beyond bilateral relations, we should enter in the phase of regional cooperation; and Saudi Arabia plays an important part in this context.
Asked about the achievements and failures during his tenure of office, Dr Kharrazi said: We have had much success and many challenges as well.
Altogether the measures taken at the scene of foreign relations have been successful.
According to the opinion poll held by ministry of information, more than 70 percent of the people have expressed satisfaction over Iran`s relations with the other countries, he pointed out.
In response to another question on the priorities to be considered by the future foreign minister, Dr Kharrazi said: The nuclear issue is very important. . Expansion of relations with other countries, especially with neighboring states, establishment of permanent and institutionalized contacts with the European Union, creating market for Iranian products in other countries.
As regards the issue of freedom of Samir Geagea, and gaining information from him on the situation of Iranian diplomats kidnapped in Lebanon, Dr Kharrazi said: Even before his freedom, we contacted him several times in prison and gained some information from him on the said issue.
Dr Kharrazi stipulated: Our information indicate that ` these dear ones` have been transferred to Israel.
We have also information from inside the Israeli prison that they have been imprisoned there; and ultimately Israel should be held responsible for the fate of these dear ones.
