Speaking to reporters at his weekly press conference, Ramin Mehmanparast said any military meddling which may lead to civil war or would threaten regional security should be prevented through cooperation among and participation of the influential countries.
All should help stablish peace and stability in Syria through dialogue between the Syrian government and the opposition groups, he noted.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Tehran-London relations should be clearly defined.
He made the remark during his Tuesday press briefing when asked whether the recent meeting between the Iranian and British foreign ministers meant resumption of ties between the two countries.
He said the hasty act of the British government following a decision by the Iranian parliament to downgrade the level of ties with the UK as well as the incidents in front of the British embassy in Tehran have created a situation where there are neither ties existing between the two countries nor the relations are formally cut.
Explaining that the meeting had taken place upon the request of the British foreign secretary and acceptance by Iran due to the problems Iranian nationals are facing in Britain, he said that given the present situation, the nature of bilateral relations should be clearly defined.
Mehmanparast said such meetings are quite regular and ordinary and have no controversial aspects upon which some make hue and cries.
The spokesman was then asked to comment on whether Iran is still keen to resume ties with Egypt despite the fact that Mohamed Morsi had refused to meet with the Iranian charge d'affaires in Cairo before presidential elections and stated that he would remain faithful to international agreements.
He said Iran will wait to receive the official positions of the Egyptian government after the formation of the cabinet.
However, he stressed, the victory of Morsi is a positive step forward by the Egyptian nation in safeguarding their revolution.
Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Tuesday that the European Union unilateral sanctions against Iran will not have any constructive impact on bilateral relations and the nuclear talks.
Asked about continued EU pressure on Iran and its effect on the expert meetings for nuclear talks underway in Istanbul, Mehmanparast said the acceptable results will be achieved only through cooperation and positive approaches.
Surely, he added, the unilateral sanctions against Iran will not help the nuclear talks between Tehran and the Group 5+1- the US, Britain, France, China and Russia plus Germany.
About escalation of tension between Turkey and Syria over downing of Turkish jet fighter by Syrian anti-aircraft batteries, Mehmanparast said Iran is trying to mediate between them due to the current critical situation in the region.
He added Iran is concerned about any measure to foment regional instability.
Talking about Saudi Arabia's violation of Iranian nationals' rights, Mehmanparast said Iran holds Saudi officials responsible for the great violation of international conventions and the counsel rights of Iranian citizens put to death by extrajudicial death warrants.
He added the Islamic Republic of Iran does not let any mistreatment of Iranian citizens by the host countries .
Mehmanparast said Tehran is to send a delegation to Riyadh to pursue the case of the executed Iranian nationals
