Majlis Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel said here Monday that Iran is determined to support indigenous peaceful nuclear technology.

Haddad Adel made the remark while addressing the opening ceremony of a one-day conference dubbed `Iran Nuclear Technology: Symbol of National Will'.

"We showed all kinds of goodwill in nuclear case but cannot accept external dictates," Haddad Adel said, adding "There is a dual attitude toward nuclear issue in the world."

"Why don't the Western states which are concerned about other countries' access to nuclear weapons show no sensitivity to Israel nuclear arsenal? Why should we give up nuclear studies and activities?" Haddad Adel asked.

"Such an imposition is unacceptable and runs counter to the country's independence."

"All groups and tendencies in Iran have consensus on the country's independence. Peaceful use of nuclear technology is a symbol of independence-seeking," he said.

The speaker added the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was founded to prepare ground for the countries' access to peaceful nuclear technology and to supervise such process and prevent proliferation of nuclear weapons.

He said Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the government and Majlis have repeatedly announced that Iran has no intention to use nuclear technology for military purposes. Islam does not allow massacre of people.

Haddad Adel said nuclear technology is key to access to other kinds of energies which will replace fossil fuel, adding "We should not ignore other ways of energy supply and only consume oil."
